Stewardship

Christian Stewardship is the care and faithful use of the resources that we have been entrusted with by God.  As Christians we recognize that everything we have comes from God, we are merely caretakers of what we have been given. Stewardship, in the Christian context, may refer to:

    1. Finances - using our finances to build up the body of Christ, spreading God's Word in our community near and far,

and ministering to the needs of our neighbors.

    2. The use of our personal gifts - each person has a number of spiritual gifts. Your gift may be teaching, listening, praying,

singing, wise counsel, compassion, etc. Whatever your gifts are, using them for God's glory is good stewardship.

    3. The care of our possessions and creations - the proper care of our material goods and the environment, which is God's

creation, is all part of being a good steward.

"Each one must give as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all contentment in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work."

2 Corinthians 9: 7-8 (ESV)
